Started in 2009, the Institute for Public Health Innovation (IPHI) is one of over 50 member public health institutes within the National Network of Public Health Institutes (NNPHI). Public health institutes work with public and private partners to strengthen public health and make systemic improvements. The focus is on community health (versus individual health). This approach helps all people access the conditions and resources needed to live healthy, happy lives.
IPHI is a unique non-profit resource that:
- Strengthens health service systems and public policy,
- Improves the environments and conditions where people live, work, learn, and play,
- Builds organizational and community capacity.
IPHI is the official public health institute serving the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia.
Our Mission
IPHI develops multi-sector partnerships and innovative solutions to improve the public’s health and well-being across the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. Our work strengthens health systems and policy, enhances conditions that promote health, and builds community capacity to ensure equitable health opportunities for all.
